Artist Bio:
Etai Rogers-Fett (he/him) is a printmaker, judaica artist, and arts educator. Etai nurtures a relationship with Yiddish culture through visual art, burlesque performance, and archival work and is inspired by contemporary Yiddishist efforts that honor and reimagine the language’s past connections to class, gender, disability, and cultural identity. In his printmaking practice, Etai draws inspiration from the craft traditions of papercutting, Jewish book arts, and Hebrew calligraphy to create compositions that blend decorative and descriptive imagery and explore letterforms as sculptural bodies. Etai is a current Keyholder Resident in printmaking at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center.

Artist Statement:
The Weavers engages with the iconography of the circular Leviathan, popular in wooden synagogue decor and illustrated manuscripts of 18th-20th century Eastern Europe. I draw on the Leviathan to evoke its associations with upheaval, transformation, and the geulah (time of redemption) and to explore the concept of shelter during such moments of chaos and transformation.
